Coursework Assignment – Tutors India
February 20, 2021

Overview

Imagine you are teaching a research methods course at your local university, and you want your students to conduct a survey as part of their course requirements. For this week’s class meeting, you want to provide them with a lecture that explains key aspects of the collection, display, and evaluation of research data. Your assignment is to prepare a PowerPoint presentation (including the appropriate speaker’s notes) for this lecture.

Instructions

Start by assembling PowerPoint slides that explain, compare, and contrast probability and nonprobability sampling techniques:

  • What do you feel your students should know?
    • Be sure to include at least two examples of each type of technique, as well as the most appropriate context in which to use each technique.
  • Be sure to use and reference professional sources, such as the recent course readings, in your PowerPoint presentation.
  • This section of your presentation should include 6–13 content slides plus title and references slides.
  • Next, create a set of slides to illustrate visual displays of data. To complete this portion of the assignment, download the Assignment Dataset Excel file linked in Resources and perform the following:
  • You are provided the following data: the mean, variance, standard deviation, mode, minimum, maximum, range, and count. Create a slide containing a table (or tables) of descriptive statistics for all of these aspects.
  • Then add slides containing the following:
    • A stem-and-leaf display describing the dataset.
    • A pie chart describing the dataset.
    • A brief interpretation of the data by analyzing the tables and figures you have presented.
  • This section of your presentation should consist of about 5 slides. Wherever possible, format and caption each table and figure in accordance with current APA style and format.
  • Finally, prepare a set of slides illustrating the creation of null and alternative hypotheses of difference based on the three scenarios presented below:
  • Scenario A: A company sent 83 salespersons to a sales training course. The company wants to know if their sales performance has improved or is unchanged based on the training course.
  • Scenario B: A company introduces a new product and wants to find out if males or females will be more likely to purchase it. The company will survey 100 males and 100 females.
  • Scenario C: A company manufactures laptop computers in two different plants and wants to know if the battery life is the same for laptops from both facilities. There are samples of 55 laptops from each plant.
  • Consider the scenarios, then complete the following for each scenario:
  • Create a measurable null and alternative hypothesis.
  • Identify the number of samples, whether they are independent, and what type of data will be collected (that is, nominal, ordinal, interval, or ratio).
  • State which parametric test would be most suitable to use.

Submission Requirements

Your submission should meet the following requirements:

  • Written communication: Written communication is free of errors that detract from the overall message.
  • APA formatting: All resources and citations should be formatted according to current APA style and formatting guidelines.
  • Format: 16–34 slide PowerPoint presentation, including a title slide and a references slide.
    • Include speaker’s notes for your presentation in the Notes section of each slide.
    • Refer to Guidelines for Effective PowerPoint Presentations (linked in Resources) for design tips.
